Week 54/102: maandag 6 juni email van Elder Meads

Another (full) week!

Hello beautiful people,
This week was busy busy busy!  Visit the toilet, get a drink, and have a good sit down so you can take this all in.

Monday: Lekker P-day as always, only this one was a little stressed.  It was nice and relaxed until I realized a fatal miscalculation of time.  We needed to shop for the District Meeting Lunch on the following day, but also needed to be in a city called Goes for an appointment.  In a flurry of calling and biking, I arranged the appointment to be 30
minutes later in the day, and we shopped, changed, left ,and got there in time!  Our lesson went well with the less active member, and after weeks of teaching, she finally said a prayer!  It may not sound like a big step, but it really was a huge step for her.  She hasn't felt worthy to approach God after everything she'd done, and so after she closed, she said she could feel His love reaching out again to her.  It's a very good reminder that our Heavenly Father is always reaching out to us no matter our sins and no matter what we've done.

Tuesday:  We left early for District Meeting and we had a wonderful meeting with all of the missionaries in our area.  Home-made Pizza was made, however it ended up taking super long to bake, so if anyone has any idea how to very quickly cook dough, I'd appreciate it.  We were originally gonna do a pizza a piece, but it just took so long that each companionship split a pizza.  We thought of doing several mini pizzas  until we had eaten enough, but IDK.  What input do you guys have? Later in the day we taught the Word of Wisdom to one of our investigators.  It went well - except for her big problem with Coffee and Tea.

Wednesday:  The appointment  on Wednesday was also about the Word of Wisdom and the same problem came up.  This investigator said giving up coffee and tea seemed a bit extremist for a church, and I couldn't really disprove her point of view, but could only read with her the commandment as it was given to Joseph Smith as well as offer her God's promised blessings.  Basically, our focus ended up being: once you get a testimony of Joseph Smith as a latter-day prophet, it'll be easier to accept, but our appointment didn't come out the way I wanted it.  So now I will devote much research into how to teach the Word of Wisdom better.

Thursday:  We had 2 appointments with investigators where we met up with them.  One was actually just service with an old couple that we randomly found.  They're super catholic and told us straight up that they are going to
stay with their faith.  That's okay, doing service for them is enough for me.  I was sneaky about it and shared Mosiah 2:17, then they're like, "Now sonny, where is that in the Bible?" and I said, "Oh it's not, it's out of the Book of Mormon.  Let me tell you a bit about it." Who knows, maybe we'll get the foot in the door.  God works in mysterious ways.  Or maybe God works in ways that actually work, and it's only mysterious to us because we're doing something wrong xD
The second lesson was with a lady who could be better helped by a social worker, and so we made it pretty clear we can only offer spiritual help.  That seemed wonderful to her, and she took us to dinner.  It was really delicious.  We taught her a restoration lesson, but I think she mentioned once that she has ADHD, so it was a little
difficult keeping her attention.

Friday: We did a lot of look ups this day, and in the end went to an appointment with a member we've never eaten with.  Normally Elders rent OV Fiets (bikes) and bike to her house as the bus doesn't ride past stop number six.  We forgot that detail and ended up having to bum a ride from a member. Gas is so expensive, so I felt super bad!

Saturday:  What did I do with my life Saturday?.... I'll get back to you guys on that.  I do remember I woke up on time Saturday, so that's good!

Sunday:  I woke up and went to a suprise European Area special Stake Conference which is where I gave the member that I bummed a ride from on Friday chocolate as an offering.  Thankfully it was accepted with smiles all around! :D  Hope you get the warm fuzzies reading that. Seeing that someone is grateful for being shown our thanks made me feel great.

How was your week?  Are you sleeping enough?  Did you stop to smell roses this week?  It's important in the late spring/early summer.  All questions i want the answers to.  Love you guys!
