Week 53/102: maandag 30 mei email van Elder Meads

Year Mark, Transfer Week

Hello everyone, this week was full and busy and really fun. Plus some pretty momentous events occurred, as you could've guessed from the title. So let's get our hands dirty, and talk about my week!

Monday: Lekker p-day. We started the week off with some service with a member Monday morning weeding in their beautiful back yard, but poor weather had them call us back in to enjoy some cake and chocomel (Dutch chocolate milk which is really creamy and good). Then some emailing and shopping. We finished the day off with a wonderful member meal which I really enjoyed. Good food and good company!

Tuesday: Woke up at 6am and got ourselves to District Meeting. District Meeting was uneventful. We ate some good lunch made by the Breda Elders and began exchanges with them. I came back to Vlissingen with an Elder Packard, and he kept me laughing the whole time. It takes pretty much all day to go to and from District Meeting, plus a member always feeds us on Tuesdays, so that was our whole day. I really enjoyed the meal, and I am really starting to love the branch here. Once you finally get past the breaking the ice stage with almost everyone in the branch, you just start enjoying your time with them so much more.

Wednesday: We re-exchanged, and started our day. We knocked doors until 7pm when we had a really progressing lesson with an investigator. Nice. We're starting to meet with them more often, and their interest has gone from almost nothing to very interested in the BoM in the time that I've been here. I again love Vlissingen.

Thursday: A busy day. We did look ups, and 2 lessons, both of which were really good! One was with an eternity investigator though, and I think she'll stay an eternity investigator; but she loves us and feeds us, so I feel justified in spending time there ;D We had to get to bed on time this night since we had to be in Tilburg by 10am for DLC. What time did we get to bed? Around 11:30 x.X

Friday: YEAR MARK!! Woke up at 6 very sad I stayed up the night before and went to DLC in Tilburg. It was a really good DLC and we had a good time talking and what not about super uber important district leader things, AKA what cereal is the best deal and so forth. xD Just kidding, have more confidence in us.... but seriously, it was a good meeting. We had 2 appointments this day, but they both cancelled. I was bummed, but decided there was a reason they cancelled so we decided to find out why. We walked 5 steps before we found out why: We ran into another eternity investigator, and he was REALLY mad, and he had read some anti mormon material and told us to never ever show our faces and we should be ashamed for trying to convert everyone to be Mormons. I was a bit stormy about it for a bit after that, but he really was an eternity investigator who wasn't going to progress. So in the end, he ended up doing the dirty work for us, by dropping us! Miracle! Honestly though, it needed to happen xD we’re not supposed to keep teaching them if they’re not progressing, but he kept his appointments, so we kept visiting him. It works out for the best. We needed to be back in Tilburg that night for exchanges with the ZL's, so back we went. It was my year mark, so we celebrated by playing some Basketball which I really enjoyed. I lost one game, won another, and Van Fleet (my comp) hurt his knee real bad and has been limping the rest of the week, but he's a good sport about it.

Saturday: A day full of look ups, and random appointments with the ZL's. We ended the exchange with having a super crazy dude chat our ear off for the better part of an hour. By the end, he had blessed Van Fleet so he'll have twins as his first born children, given me a hug, and cursed my ZL for having his name tag askew. An interesting day as mission days go.

Sunday: We ate some DELICIOUS greek food with the branch president after church, and had a lesson with an investigator.

That was my week, how was yours? Even if it's 2-3 sentences, and especially if you haven't emailed me in 3+ weeks – you know who you are.  Seriously, I appreciate all of the emails everyone sends.  Thanks for that.  -Elder Meads
