Week 022/ 102: maandag 26 october e-mail van Elder Meads

Mildly interesting tidbits of my week:

So the week was good. I bought my fiets (which means bike in Dutch) for 100 euro. I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to buy one and I could just get one from some 'dead' missionary going home, but whatever. I need one now so I bought it. It's pretty good. The ultimate sidewalk bike in my opinion.

Well anyway, besides that we've had a couple of good lessons with less actives and various investigators. This coming up week we're gonna be carving pumpkins at an investigators house (Sanaya if you know her) to celebrate Halloween, and the best part is, is we're having a member come with us to do it who'll be probably joint teaching in the future.

Besides that my week just seemed super loong. We bought library passes so we could use the super fast internet at the library, plus we can both use the computers at the same time and get out quicker. Well, I bought my internet pass for the month, and logged on just to see if it would work and also to measure a running distance, but the following time when we had to look up how to get to an investigators house, I was out of time. That was weird since I had used 15 or so minutes, but now it was gone. I went and asked a librarian why I was out of time, and after quite a lengthy and confusing discussion with me - her rattling off in Dutch to get me me to change my password, pay more, and stuff, she came to the conclusion that I had used all my time, and was trying to swindle her to get more time. I got what we call "englished" which is when someone can tell you're not from the Netherlands, and they revert to english to make things more clear. She said I have to buy more time from the machine in order to get more and after I use my time that my pass gets me, I can't get anymore from them.

It was pretty painfully obvious she knew nothing about computers, but finally after she was getting obviously more and more distressed, she called over a different librarian who knew stuff about the computer system, and she quickly explained to me that I have to log out in a special way and not just turn the computer off so the remaining time will be there on the coming Monday. I thanked her, and turned around to go back to my comp, but the first librarian says "Bent je blij jonge?" Which means "Are you happy boy?". so yea... I guess I made a librarian enemy. Hmm... Tell me how you guys are, I'd love to hear from ya all. Ttyl -Elder Meads
